Dear Silicon Enthusiasts,

Please join us for SILICON-CONTAINING POLYMERS AND COMPOSITES 2014, the third in a series of biennial workshop sponsored by the ACS Division of Polymer Chemistry.  The workshop will be held December 14-17, 2014 and will cover all aspects of silicon/polymer chemistry, from silanes and silicones to silsesquioxanes and silicate-filled composites.  A workshop flyer attached.

The workshop will take place at the Omni Hotel in San Diego, CA, a warm location in the chilly month of December, with easy access for international participants.  This is looking to be an outstanding workshop.  Additional information is provided below and on the POLY website: http://polyacs.net/Workshops/14Silicon/home.htm

We hope to see you there!

Silicon, the second most abundant element in the Earth’s crust, is ubiquitously found in various aspects of polymer chemistry and engineering.  The chemistry of silanes, siloxanes, silsesquioxanes, and silicates has had a tremendous impact on the creation of novel substances that exhibit far-reaching influence on modern material applications across multiple industries.  Despite the extensive progression in the development of silicon-containing materials, the versatility of this useful element provides continued promise.

This workshop will cover recent technological advancements in silicon-containing polymers and composites produced in academic, industrial, and government laboratories, from fundamental research to commercial product development.  The workshop will be of interest to both academic and industrial communities and is the third installment of the successful biennial workshop series started in 2010.  Selected presenters from the workshop will be invited to submit papers to a thematic special issue of the journal, Silicon.
